More about me and my practice
I am a family physician by training and have subspecialized in addiction medicine since 2003. I am certified in addiction medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine and am a fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. I am also a member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine.
My practice includes outpatient detoxification from both opioids and alcohol. I also work regularly in an inpatient detoxification unit. In addition, I treat chronic pain and mood disorders in recovering people as I consider emotional and physical pain as the main cause of relapse in recovering persons. I have extensive experience with using buprenorphine as a detox medication, as an opioid replacement medication, and as a pain medication.
My practice is embedded in an outpatient treatment program, Professional Health Associates so treatment is also available under the same roof. I believe that addiction is a brain disease and strive to treat those suffering from addiction with the same dignity and respect that would be given to any person suffering from a chronic illness.
